America might not have loads of cathedrals, but they will have some only public buildings that are interesting. If you go into google maps and zoom in to an area and type cathedral all the cathedrals in that zoomed area will show up. This works not just for the word cathedral but for all sorts of stuff, so you could find some interesting stuff in your area. Google maps is your friend. I use it all the time to find new and interesting places near me.
It is really nice. Technically this is a minster which means it is a bog standard church, even though it is huge and beautiful. Cathedrals are different. Cathedral comes from the greek word kathedra, which means seat, the seat where the bisphop sits for his dioces in their local area. I have done quite a few cathedrals and minsters.
