Bury Parish Church HDR by kippa2001 Bury Parish Church HDR by kippa2001
Here is a HDR photograph taken from inside Bury Parish Church. Located in Bury, Lancashire, England, UK.

I have made a very small alteration, just increasing the contrast a little.

The floor is quite unique. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to photograph this place.

Beautiful shot. Great to see an understated HDRI without the horrific tone mapping :)

Thank you very much. I have only done a handful of hdr images so far, but I think I am getting the hang of it alright now. :)

Mate, your best one yet, absolutely brilliant stuff!

Might I suggest a little touch of contrast/levels to punch out the details.

I have added a bit more contrast. It does look less soft and as you said it does bring out more of the detail. :)

I just pulled it up full screen on a tablet,it looks flipping superb, crystal clear and sharp! I had my way this would be a surefire consideration for a DD. Make sure you get this off to as many groups as you can!

Thanks m8e. Changing the contrast slightly did make a huge difference. Oh by the way I am following you on 500px. I have just joined up with them. The more exposure the better. Site wise I am just sticking to Deviant Art, Flickr and 500px as they seem to be the best of the main sites. I got some feedback already with 500px.

Meh I can tell I am getting old. Before all I would look at were naked ladies online. Now I am fixated with old churches and architecture.

Thanks for the positive comment m8e! Yes in hindsight I agree about the contrast, it does need a tad bit more. Most of the cathedrals that I have been doing have been lit quite well inside not needing to do hdr. Churches on the other hand are a different kettle of fish, nearly all of them had to have been done with HDR as there are usually extreme dark areas and light areas, not to mention getting the detail in the stained glass windows. Have a merry christmas and happy new year m8e. :)

I'd have to agree. The HDR processing has been handled excellently, the image just needs a little more contrast overall.

Thanks! I am a newbie so far as HDR is concerned, I have only done about 10 before this one. Constantly learning. :)

What tool did you use for the HDR? I'm new to it myself, but I've already seen so many images with tell-tale signs of poor editing (the worst being the halo effect, yuck).

You're doing great if your shots are already looking so natural after only 10 attempts ;)

Thanks! I use HDR PRo in Photoshop CS5. My first attempt has Halifax Minster which wasn't too good but I slowly learn.

I have my own site which hosts HDR source files if you want to use them to practice on. Here is a link to my site : [link]
